Haraka Freight International manages East Africa to DRC logistics, as well as freight into Rwanda and Burundi, through the region's two main gateways: the port of Mombasa in Kenya and the port of Dar es Salaam in Tanzania. We also move cargo overland from inland Kenya and Tanzania. In Eastern Africa, we create and deploy practical transportation, warehousing and distribution services in Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda and Burundi, as well as transit commodities to Goma and Bukavu.
Two corridors into the Great Lakes region
- The Northern Corridor starts at Mombasa and runs through Kenya and Uganda towards Rwanda, Burundi, eastern DRC and South Sudan. It is coordinated by the Northern Corridor Transit and Transport Coordination Authority (opens in a new tab), whose members are Burundi, the DRC, Kenya, Rwanda, South Sudan and Uganda.
- The Central Corridor starts at Dar es Salaam and crosses Tanzania. Its agency, the Central Corridor Transit Transport Facilitation Agency (opens in a new tab), brings together Burundi, the DRC, Malawi, Rwanda, Tanzania, Uganda and Zambia.
Both corridors serve all three of our main destinations. Which one is better for your cargo depends on the shipping line, the port situation, the cargo and the final address. Read Northern Corridor vs Central Corridor for a full comparison.
Port routes
Port routes start when your container is discharged at Mombasa or Dar es Salaam. We handle the transit documents, the road journey, the border crossings and the clearance at destination.
Overland routes
Overland routes start at a factory, warehouse or depot in Kenya or Tanzania, for example in Nairobi, Arusha or Mwanza. We collect the goods, prepare export and transit documents and deliver across the border.
East Africa to DRC logistics from a Kigali base
From our base in Kigali we work across the region as a DRC logistics company, a Burundi logistics company and, of course, a Rwanda logistics company, under one team. For the DRC, our routes focus on the east of the country: Goma in North Kivu and Bukavu in South Kivu. For other DRC destinations, such as Lubumbashi in the south-east, contact us to discuss your shipment. For Burundi, cargo is delivered to Bujumbura and onward.
Border conditions in this region can change quickly. We confirm the current routing, border post and documents before every dispatch and update you if anything changes.

Frequently asked questions
Which port is best for cargo to the DRC, Rwanda or Burundi?
It depends on the destination, the shipping line, the cargo and current conditions. Mombasa and the Northern Corridor and Dar es Salaam and the Central Corridor both serve all three countries. We compare them for each shipment.
Do you deliver to Kinshasa?
Kinshasa is in western DRC and is mainly served through the Atlantic port of Matadi rather than East African ports. Our DRC routes focus on eastern and southern DRC, including Goma and Bukavu. Contact us to discuss other destinations.
Are you a DRC logistics company or a Burundi logistics company?
We are a logistics company based in Kigali, Rwanda, serving the region. We move cargo into Burundi and transit commodities to Goma and Bukavu in the DRC, working with the customs authorities in each country.
